FinerWorks is a fine art and photo printing company in San Antonio, Texas, that prints artists' and photographers' work on paper, canvas, metal, acrylic and wood, frames it, and dropships it to their customers. Its tagline is "Gallery level printing of your fine art and photography." Next to the wall art sit greeting cards, stickers and magnets, mugs, puzzles, gift items and certificates of authenticity. Orders arrive through apps for Shopify, Etsy, Squarespace and WooCommerce, an order fulfillment app, Excel uploads or an API, and the company runs its own gallery marketplace for sellers without a store.

What it prints

The catalog is broad for a fine art printer. Wall decor covers canvas prints, HD metal prints, wood prints, acrylic glass prints and a new murals and wallpaper line. Posters and Dibond prints form a display group. Photo prints come on fine art papers or on Kodak and photo papers, and the homepage describes its fine art paper list as "One of the largest ranges of paper selections." Tabletop pieces include photo panels, tabletop canvas, slates and acrylic plaques. Specialty and gift items run to maple wood prints, wall art standouts, ceramic tiles, pillows, cutting boards, mugs and drinkware, Christmas ornaments, coasters, mouse pads and personalized bags, and the site also lists puzzles.

Cards come in two kinds. Standard cards print on card stock in several finishes, sizes and styles, folded or flat, and the page says you can "Order just one or take advantage of bulk pricing." Giclée Artisan Edition cards are printed on any of the company's fine art papers. Mugs come in 11oz or 15oz, with colored interiors or a black or white exterior.

Framing is a business of its own. The homepage offers "over 200 styles" of custom frames and mats, made to order for FinerWorks prints or sold as standalone frames, plus acrylic glazing and certificate frames. Collectors' paperwork is covered too: the company sells an online tool for creating certificates of authenticity and a box of 50 blank COAs.

Published prices

FinerWorks prints a table of popular orders on its homepage, which gives a seller real unit costs to price against. Giclée prints on Hahnemühle Photo Rag with a 1-inch extra border cost $13.00 at 8 x 10 in., $25.00 at 11 x 14 in., $52.00 at 16 x 20 in. and $99.00 at 20 x 30 in.. Framed in the Gallery Contemporary Alto Black Thin frame with a Snow White mat and reflection-control acrylic, the same prints cost $74.00 at 8 x 10 in., $108.00 at 11 x 14 in., $173.00 at 16 x 20 in. and $278.00 at 20 x 30 in.. Stretched and mounted canvas on Artisan Archival Canvas costs $101.00 at 16 x 20 in., $125.00 at 18 x 24 in., $182.00 at 24 x 30 in. and $271.00 at 30 x 40 in..

The metal print page says volume discounts are built in automatically: "Order one or save with automatic built-in volume discounts." Newsletter subscribers get 10% off a first order.

HD metal prints in detail

The metal print page is the most detailed product page in the set. HD Metal Prints are made on ChromaLuxe aluminum panels, with Epson dye-sublimation inks fused into the surface by heat and pressure. The listed printer is the Epson SureColor F6200 with UltraChrome DS inks, and the page rates its Dmax, color gamut and black-and-white capability as "Excellent." Panels are cut by CNC for consistent sizes and have rounded corners. Surfaces come in white gloss (the most popular, for maximum color and contrast), white matte (for bright rooms with less glare) and silver matte (a true metallic look, where images may appear darker).

Size limits are stated twice on the page: each surface option lists a maximum of 30x40 or 40x30 inches, while a feature box says a custom size can be entered up to 40x60 inches. Display options include panel only, table stands, an easel back, a metal float bracket or gatorboard float hanger that hold the print about half an inch off the wall, an inset metallic float hanger or standoff posts that hold it about an inch out, a flush mount on black PVC, and float frames in black, white, gold or silver.

How orders reach FinerWorks

The homepage sets out its fulfillment routes. The Shopify app transmits Shopify orders directly, and the Etsy app does the same for Etsy; the page says each app alone is enough for a seller who uses only that platform. Squarespace stores connect through the Order Fulfillment App, which imports orders and syncs inventory. The WooCommerce plugin works inside WooCommerce or as a module of the Order Fulfillment App. The footer also lists a drop ship guide, an API for developers and Excel ordering, so a seller can batch orders without an app. Every product page repeats the basic choice: order for yourself, or have orders dropshipped to your customers.

For sellers without a shop, FinerWorks runs GeoGalleries, where a user can "Post your virtual inventory for sale" in their own galleries. The homepage says sales there are fulfilled automatically by FinerWorks, with monthly or weekly payments by PayPal, and that it is currently exclusive to FinerWorks users. A referral program is also linked.

Samples, color and support

A Sample Kit lets a new customer see small samples of the most popular media, with an add-on for the metal surfaces to show how each affects image tones. The supplies section sells a calibration print, and the help menu links ICC profiles, so photographers can soft-proof before ordering. The footer links separate pages for shipping rates, turnaround time, and replacements and returns, and customers can check order status and tracking online.

The office and lobby are at 10930 Wye Dr in San Antonio, open Monday to Friday 9 AM to 5 PM Central, and the site has a contact page.

Who it suits

FinerWorks suits US artists and photographers who sell framed and unframed wall art and want to see what a print costs before they start. The public price table, framing catalog, sample kit, ICC profiles and COA tools make it a practical choice for fine art sellers and collectors' editions, and the four store apps plus an API cover most selling setups. The card, mug and gift lines let a seller put the same artwork on cheaper items.

It is a weaker fit for sellers who need apparel, since the pages show none, and sellers shipping mostly outside the US should read the shipping rate page before committing, as the pages show only the San Antonio operation.
