What GREEN SHIRTS is

GREEN SHIRTS is a supplier of sustainable printed and embroidered textiles for organizations, with a B2B site in German and English that sells teamwear, corporate fashion and merchandise from 10 to 50,000 pieces. Print-on-demand is one part of that offer rather than the whole of it: the company builds webshops, company stores and order portals, and routes orders for "geeignete Standardprodukte" (suitable standard products) into on-demand production, while larger or more specialized items go through regular production runs. The homepage says "2.000+ Kunden" (2,000+ customers) trust it for sustainable textile and merchandise projects, cites experience from more than 4,000 projects, and claims "12+ Jahre Erfahrung mit nachhaltiger Produktion" (12+ years of experience with sustainable production). A Trusted Shops badge shows a rating of 4.7/5.

The customers it names range "von Startups und Mittelstand bis NGOs, Schulen, Stiftungen und Konzernabteilungen" (from startups and mid-sized firms to NGOs, schools, foundations and corporate departments). For this directory, the relevant part is its webshop and on-demand service, which also covers D2C brand and merch stores.

What a seller gets

Products. The site groups its range into four categories: t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies, bags, and workwear. The homepage lists "600+ kuratierte Produkte" (600+ selected products), made up of branded products and special productions. Among its brand partnerships it names Stanley/Stella, Neutral and Earth Positive; the site describes all three as working with organic cotton. The footer's service menu names textile printing, embroidery and a page of finishing methods, and a corporate fashion section mentions "präziser Stick" (precise embroidery), "innovativer Digitaldruck" (innovative digital printing) and full special productions with custom cuts and individual Pantone colors.

How the on-demand model works. The print-on-demand page, titled "Webshops, Print-On-Demand & Bestellprozesse," describes a system that ties webshops, recurring reorders and on-demand models into one ordering process, "Ohne Lagerrisiko, ohne manuelle Zwischenschritte" (without stock risk, without manual intermediate steps). Its FAQ is careful about scope: print-on-demand suits "vor allem für geeignete Standardprodukte und bestimmte Veredelungsarten" (mainly suitable standard products and certain finishing types), and whether it makes sense depends on the product, the motif and the quality level wanted. Depending on the product, orders run through print-on-demand, regular production or supported reorder processes.

Shop types. The page lists several setups: ongoing shops for recurring needs, closed order areas for internal groups or defined partners, campaign shops for time-limited order windows, employee shops, brand or merch stores "für Marken, Communities oder Projekte mit direktem Bestellzugang" (for brands, communities or projects with direct ordering access), project-based order portals, and reorder logic with personal support. Shops can be open or password-protected, per the FAQ.

Integrations. The FAQ answers the question of which shop systems can be connected: "Je nach Setup sind Anbindungen z. B. an Shopify oder WordPress möglich" (depending on the setup, connections to Shopify or WordPress, for example, are possible), and other solutions can be checked per project.

Fulfillment. Orders can be delivered directly to individuals or to central locations, according to the FAQ, and fulfillment can be combined with storage or interim storage depending on the product and the order rhythm. The homepage lists fulfillment and logistics as "Lagerung, Versand und Logistik aus einer Hand" (storage, shipping and logistics from one source) and mentions shipping to several sites.

Personal support as part of the model. The print-on-demand page sets itself against pure self-service: "Wo andere rein auf Self-Service setzen, kombinieren wir digitale Bestelllogik mit persönlicher Betreuung" (where others rely purely on self-service, we combine digital ordering logic with personal support). Asked whether reorders must always go through a contact person, the FAQ answers: "Nicht zwingend, aber aktuell ist persönliche Betreuung in vielen Fällen bewusst Teil des Modells" (not necessarily, but personal support is currently a deliberate part of the model in many cases). The homepage services list a fixed contact person, project support "von der Idee bis zur Auslieferung" (from the idea to delivery), express support for short-notice requests, design services covering mockups and logo placement, and a sample and fitting service with samples and size sets before production starts.

Ordering, timing and pricing

The homepage describes the process in four steps: an inquiry and first consultation on needs, audience, budget, timing and product idea; design, mockups and, if needed, samples for approval; production with coordinated finishing and quality assurance; and delivery and reorders, bundled or decentralized. It gives a regular lead time of "etwa 3 Wochen" (about 3 weeks), with express delivery possible, and promises a non-binding quote with a first response "innerhalb von 24 Std." (within 24 hours). There is no public price list; pricing comes through the quote.

Sustainability and certifications

Sustainability runs through the whole site, and the claims below are the company's own. The homepage states: "Wir sind GOTS unternehmensweit zertifiziert (CERES-1057)" (we are GOTS certified company-wide). The print-on-demand page describes a material portfolio "von GOTS-zertifizierter Bio-Baumwolle über recycelte Polyester-Mischungen bis hin zu zukunftsweisenden Stoffen aus Tencel oder Hanf" (from GOTS-certified organic cotton through recycled polyester blends to forward-looking fabrics of Tencel or hemp), and argues that a garment that still holds its shape and color after 50 wash cycles saves resources. It also refers to "lokalen Fertigungsstätten" (local production sites) and transparent supply chains.

The homepage shows a row of standards, including OEKO-TEX Standard 100, EU Ecolabel, Grüner Knopf, bluesign, Global Recycled Standard, Fair Wear Foundation, Fairtrade Cotton, SA8000 and Cradle to Cradle Certified, but adds a note that these serve as orientation, may apply depending on product, material or supplier, and are only shown where proof and usage rights exist. A seller should read that row as the standards the company can source against, not as certifications of GREEN SHIRTS itself; the company-wide certification it claims is GOTS.

Examples from the site

The references show how the on-demand setup is used. For the initiative "Klima vor 8," the company built a partner page with on-demand production, where certified organic products are only made once ordered and shipped directly to supporters. For the fashion label be.fashionbrand, it describes an e-commerce setup where designs are printed on certified organic textiles only after an order arrives and shipped to end customers through an automated fulfillment system, "ohne Vorabinvestitionen oder Lagerrisiko" (without upfront investment or stock risk). For VOLT it set up a merchandise webshop with hoodies, shirts and bags.

Who it suits and who should look elsewhere

GREEN SHIRTS suits organizations and brands that want sustainable, organic-cotton merchandise sold through a managed shop: a company store for staff, a merch store for a community or cause, or a small fashion label that wants on-demand production on certified organic blanks with a named contact person behind it. The GOTS certification and the Stanley/Stella and Neutral blanks make it a natural fit for sellers who market on sustainability.

It is a poor fit for a solo seller who wants to sign up, connect a store and start selling the same day with published base costs. Every project starts with a quote and a consultation, the on-demand route covers only suitable standard products, and the regular lead time of about 3 weeks is long for marketplace dropshipping, where a buyer expects dispatch within days.
