Merch On Demand (MOD) is an Australian print-on-demand business that prints AS Colour apparel with direct-to-garment (DTG) printing and ships each order straight to the buyer, working through a free app inside the seller's Shopify store. Its shipping page opens: "As an Australian based print-on-demand business we aim to please our local customers with fast and reliable delivery." The footer sums up its purpose: "Print on demand specialists, helping small operators create their own branded merchandise without all the headaches. No Risk!" The site prices in Australian dollars, and the pitch throughout is aimed at people selling to "your crew," from small operators to organizations.
What a seller gets
The homepage headline is "Print on demand made easy!", followed by "Brand and sell your own merchandise directly to your crew. Start designing and selling from your own Shopify store in no time." The core promises are "No inventory. No minimum orders" and "Sell your own branded apparel with no up front cost." When a sale comes in, "we print and ship directly to your customer."
The "Why Merch On Demand" section lists the offer in one line: "Huge range of quality garments, direct to garment printing, no minimum orders, pay as you go." The homepage explains what that replaces: "Gone are the days of holding boxes of unsold stock in your garage, customers can now order directly through our printer who will print the one off garment and ship it to them." MOD handles the rest: "We take care of the garment selection, printing, packing and delivery, directly to your customer."
How it works with Shopify
Shopify is the channel. The homepage lays out "3 Simple Steps." First, "Connect your Shopify store": the company offers a "free MOD Shopify App," and adds: "If you don't have a store, they're easy to set up." Second, "Add and create products": "Select from dozens of styles, colours and sizes. Upload your designs. Add details, set a price, and publish!" Third, "Add markup and make sales," after which "We handle the rest... products, printing, delivery."
The installation guide gives the detail. A seller installs the MOD Shopify App, enters the Shopify store details, and "an MOD account will then be created for you using your Shopify details. An MOD account lets you store your designs, create products and manage orders." The app then sits in the Shopify admin under the name "MOD Merch Fulfilment." The page says the aim is to make it as easy as possible for organizations to start selling.
Creating a product takes five steps on the "Creating Custom Products" page. In the MOD App, the seller selects "Add DTG Merch" to see "all our available products from AS Colour" and picks a garment. They choose the front or back, upload an image from their own files, and position and size the design on the garment. They select the colors and sizes to sell, add a product title and description, and review the product pricing. After checking the details they press "Create" and accept an Image Ownership popup, and the product is live: "Your merch is now in your Shopify Store and ready to sell."
From then on, orders flow on their own. The "How It Works" page says: "After an order is placed MOD does the rest by starting production, then the order will be packed and shipped directly out to your customer."
Products and printing
Every garment on the pages comes from AS Colour, and the decoration method is DTG. The company describes its range as "one of the largest ranges of quality blank apparel available in Australia," and the homepage mentions "dozens of styles, colours and sizes." The "How It Works" page invites sellers to "Upload and create your limitless merch designs then select your colours and sizes." The menu also links to design guides for preparing artwork.
Samples
There are two ways to test quality. The homepage invites sellers to "Try out our quality and service by designing and printing your own demo, right now!" For sellers already set up, the "Shopify Samples" page explains a simple trick: create an order in your own Shopify store for the samples you want, and at checkout select "Mark as paid" instead of "Pay with credit card." The page warns: "Do NOT pay for the order when checking out of your own store. Doing this will mean you are paying yourself and Shopify will deduct their standard processing fees."
Billing
Billing is per order. Sellers add billing and payment details in the MOD App when they are ready to order, and "All details are stored securely using Chargebee." The page states the company only ever bills when you submit an order, and that it accepts Visa and Mastercard. There is no subscription or monthly fee on the pages; the model is "pay as you go."
Shipping rates and times
The shipping page is the most detailed part of the site, and it publishes rates. It says that once products are printed, "they are rushed straight to Australia Post for a 2-3 day Australia wide delivery." It then lists three services, each with its own estimate, and each estimate "includes production + delivery":
- Standard Australia Post costs $10 for the first item and $2 for every additional item in the order, with 7-10 business days to most metro areas and 8-12 business days to non-metro areas.
- Express Australia Post costs $15 for the first item and $4 for each additional item, with 5-8 business days to most metro areas and 6-10 business days to non-metro areas.
- International shipping costs $20 for the first item and $6 for each additional item, with 2-4 weeks "to major partners (USA, UK, New Zealand)" and 2-8 weeks to most other countries.
Both Australia Post services include tracking on all parcels. The page adds that the Express Post Network "Covers 80% of Australian business addresses, private addresses and PO Boxes." For a seller, the useful figures are the full order-to-door estimates: the 2-3 days describes the Australia Post leg once an item is printed, while the 7-10 business days for standard metro delivery covers production as well.
Contact
Orders and questions go to orders@merchondemand.com.au, and every page carries a "Get in Touch" form with the promise: "Have any queries? Let us know and we'll get straight back to you."
Who it suits
Merch On Demand suits Australian small operators, organizations and brands that sell through Shopify and want AS Colour apparel printed by DTG without stock, minimums or upfront cost. The in-admin app, the step-by-step product builder and the published per-item shipping rates make it simple to price merchandise before listing it, and the "Mark as paid" sample route keeps test orders cheap.
The channel is Shopify only on these pages, so sellers on other platforms would need a Shopify store first; the homepage notes that such stores are "easy to set up." The range is AS Colour apparel printed by DTG, so the offer is built for printed garments rather than a wide mix of products.
