Oowia

Oowia (written OOWIA on its site) is an on-demand apparel manufacturer in India that makes, packs and ships products for sellers who run their own brand, with a minimum order of 1 piece. Its catalog centers on DTG-printed T-shirts, all-over-printed T-shirts and leggings, and swimsuits, with men's and women's clothing and a home decor and furnishing category behind them. The footer names the business behind it as Ambuja Knitting Mills. Every shipping rate on the site is for delivery within India; international shipping is listed as "Coming Soon."

How it works

The homepage describes the model in three steps under the line "You Manage The Brand. Leave The Rest On Us." The seller lists as many products with their own designs as they like on their own site and takes the orders. Oowia manufactures each product on demand, packs it to the seller's specifications and ships it directly to the customer. The customer, the page says, "will receive the product in a packaging with your branding. He/She will never know about Oowia, thinking it came directly from you."

The FAQ repeats the point: "we are a manufacturer not a brand, thus you won't find our branding anywhere on the product or the parcel." On the minimum order, it says the MOQ "is only 1 piece," which it explains as Oowia taking the inventory position on the seller's behalf. Sellers work through a partner dashboard, and onboarding starts with a phone call; the site's call to action is "Simply give us a call below, and we'd love to onboard you."

Products and fabrics

The homepage headline calls the company "India's Largest On Demand Manufacturing Company With Thousands Of Products To Choose From," its own description, and the product page adds that "we pride ourselves on being pioneers in the Print On Demand industry in India." Three product lines lead the homepage:

• DTG T-shirts: which the homepage calls the "Largest variety of on demand printable t-shirts," in normal cotton, organic cotton, organic cotton and Lycra blend or bamboo fabric, with more than 55 colors and 20 sizes.
• Leggings: all-over-printed, made from 95% polyester and 5% Lycra.
• Swimsuits: made from a polyester blend.

The all-over-print cotton T-shirt page shows the detail a seller gets per product. It is priced from ₹586.00 to ₹1,402.00 depending on options, in sizes from XS to 10XL, with a published size chart in inches that the company says was drawn up by fashion designers from Indian fashion institutes. Fabric options are Premium Cotton (180 GSM), Organic Cotton (160 GSM), Bamboo Viscose Lycra (220 GSM), Premium Organic Cotton Lycra (210-220 GSM) and Supima HeavyWeight (220-240 GSM). The standard cotton is described as knitted on Taiwanese machines, 180 ± 10 GSM, pre-shrunk, single jersey, jet dyed, and made from super-combed, ring-spun 100% cotton yarn. The page states that the product price includes printing, so there are no separate print charges for all-over-print products, and says "unlike others, we don't have any hidden charges."

Print technology

According to the product page, "All Cotton All-Over-Prints are done using Wide Format Roll To Roll Textile Printers. OEKO-TEX® certified DuPont® Pigment water based textile inks are used." In all-over print there is no fixed print area: "each and every square mm of the fabric will/can be printed." Stitching thread on all-over-printed products comes in black or white only, and the tailors pick the one that suits the design file.

The print disclaimers cover the other methods. DTG uses water-based inks and may not always be 100% opaque, and the company links a comparison with plastisol screen printing. DTG on textured heather and melange colors gives slightly different results from plain colors. Glow-in-the-dark prints glow for 30-40 minutes after exposure to light.

Artwork should be a very high resolution PNG at a minimum of 300 DPI in RGB or sRGB, with dimension templates and a YouTube video on artwork preparation linked from the page.

Fulfillment time

For the all-over-print T-shirt, fulfillment takes 2-4 business days: "Since All Over Prints are basically cut & sewn on demand, they tend to take a little longer than other products." Manufacturing runs Monday to Saturday and customer support Monday to Friday.

Shipping, COD and returns

The product page lists shipping charges within India:

• Standard: ₹50, by DTDC, Delhivery Surface, Xpressbees, Gati, Shadowfax or Ekart
• Express: ₹60, by Delhivery Air, FedEx or BlueDart
• Cash on delivery (standard and express): ₹50
• International: coming soon

Shipping charges exclude 18% GST but include fuel surcharge and other levies, and a list of serviceable PIN codes is linked. Product prices exclude GST, which is 5% on products.

Returned-to-origin parcels, where the courier could not deliver because the customer refused or was unavailable, come back to the Oowia factory and are listed under an RTO tab in the seller's account. Refunds are given when the error is Oowia's: the FAQ's examples are a red shirt sent instead of a black one, which is refunded along with shipping, and the wrong design printed.

Branding options

Branding is priced on the product page:

• Neck labels, inside or outside: bulk at a 1000-piece MOQ for ₹4.80 each, or on-demand at a 20-piece MOQ for ₹11 each
• Custom packaging: regular (free), tube (₹28), corrugated box (₹26) or compressed (₹85)

Pricing and support

Product prices are listed on the site, and the FAQ says there are better prices for bulk orders and attractive prices for high-volume customers, who are invited to call for details. Payment options shown are Visa, MasterCard, cash on delivery, Amazon, Google Pay, Maestro and Paytm. Support is by phone from 10AM to 7PM, Monday to Friday. Who it suits and who it does not

Oowia suits an Indian brand or seller selling to customers inside India who wants unbranded manufacturing from a single piece, fabric choice down to organic cotton and Supima, all-over-print tees and leggings, sizes up to 10XL, COD and published shipping and branding prices.

It does not suit a seller whose customers are outside India while international shipping is still listed as coming soon, or one who needs a plug-in store integration, since the site describes onboarding by phone and a partner dashboard rather than a named platform connection.
