What Clube de Autores is

Clube de Autores is a Brazilian self-publishing platform built on print-on-demand. An author uploads a finished book, the platform lists it for sale, and each copy is printed only when a reader buys it. The company's blog calls it "pioneiro no uso da tecnologia de Print On Demand no Brasil", a pioneer of print-on-demand in Brazil, and says that partnerships with local companies in several countries now let it print books on demand anywhere in the world. Its audience is the independent author: someone with a manuscript and no publisher, who wants a printed book on sale without paying for a print run first.

Publishing itself costs nothing. Asked in the blog's comments how much it would cost to publish a book of 410 pages, the company answered: "A publicação para autores é gratuita", publication is free for authors, and with the book ready you simply register and follow the step-by-step publishing process.

What an author actually gets

The core of the offer is the print-on-demand model, which the company explains in a long blog post on the subject. Books are printed only after they are sold or ordered, so there is no need to print hundreds or thousands of copies at once. Each unit is printed individually, matching reader demand. The author pays only for what is produced and holds no stock.

The post sets that against traditional printing, where, it says, a printer or publisher may require an author to print at least 500 or 1,000 copies, with high costs, the risk of unsold books, and storage and logistics on top. "Não há tiragem mínima", there is no minimum print run, the post says of its own model, and each book is produced only when purchased.

Once a title is published, the post says the platform lets the author:

  • control how much they want to earn on each sale;
  • follow their sales in real time;
  • receive their royalties without complications.

Authors also get an author area, which the blog describes as allowing easy changes to any information about the book. That matters because the company's advice is to buy a single copy first and check the quality of the material and look for errors in the cover and interior files. If something is wrong, the book is corrected in place, with no batch of faulty copies to throw away. After that, the post says, how many copies the author buys is up to them: "10, 20 ou 50? Depende das estratégias de divulgação e vendas", depending on the author's promotion and sales plans. The site's footer carries a separate link for buying your own book in quantity ("Compre sua obra em quantidade").

The author has to bring a complete book. In a comment reply the company says all the material must be ready, with one exception: an author without a cover can create one during the publishing process. An author who already has an ISBN can publish a finished book as long as it is in the available formats, which the company says are shown on its publication simulator page.

Editing, translation and other services

Clube de Autores is a publishing and printing platform, not an editorial service. When readers asked whether it handles layout, proofreading or correction, the company replied that it does not do those activities and pointed them to Profissionais do Livro, a directory of book professionals linked in the blog's top menu. It gave the same answer to a question about translation into British English: no translation services, but professionals can be found through the same directory.

Writing in another language is not a barrier, though. Asked whether a book could be published in a different language and outside Brazil, the company answered that a book in another language can be published on the Clube site and will be distributed internationally.

Distribution and printing abroad

Distribution is the second half of the pitch. The print-on-demand post has a section on global scalability: POD companies with local partnerships around the world can print and deliver books in different countries, saving time and shipping cost, and the post calls this one of the global strategies the Clube has adopted. It says that thanks to partnerships with local companies in several countries, the Clube can print books on demand anywhere in the world, which keeps printing and shipping costs down for both authors and readers.

The site's footer adds a "Livrarias parceiras" page for partner bookshops, and the blog's archive includes a post titled "Livro vendido pelo mundo? Entenda como funciona a distribuição dos livros publicados pelo Clube de Autores", explaining how distribution of the books it publishes works worldwide.

Sustainability, in the company's words

The blog makes an environmental case for the model, in its own voice: printing only what is needed avoids wasted paper, ink and other resources, which it describes as a more ecological process. It points to two sources of waste in conventional runs, unsold copies that end up stored and whole runs discarded when an error is found after printing.

Resources for authors

The blog is large and active. Its index runs to 167 pages of posts, most written by Juliano Loureiro, grouped under writing a book, publishing a book, news and trends, AI and technology, rights and registration, and inside the Clube. Recent titles cover choosing a self-publishing platform, selling books on TikTok, AI-assisted revision that keeps the author's voice, the ten mistakes first-time authors make, and the publishing market's trends. Older guides explain how to get an ISBN, print details to check before publishing, and a step-by-step guide to publishing an independent book.

Beyond the blog, the menu lists a podcast (Podcast do Clube) and a "Top 10 Lançamentos" list of new releases, and the company has published its own e-book, "A Revolução da Inteligência Artificial na Literatura", and run a video campaign for authors called "Um livro, um clique, um vídeo". The company answers questions in the blog comments itself and lists atendimento@clubedeautores.com.br as its support address along with an FAQ.

Pricing

The platform does not publish print costs or royalty rates in its blog. What the blog does establish is the structure: publishing is free, the author pays only for the copies they order, and the author sets how much they earn per sale.

Who it suits

Clube de Autores suits a Brazilian independent author with a finished manuscript who wants a printed book for sale without risking money on a print run. The free listing, the single proof copy and the ability to fix files through the author area make it a low-risk first step, and the company's own advice is built around testing quality before ordering more. Authors writing in a language other than Portuguese can publish too, and the company says those books are distributed internationally.

It suits less well an author who wants a publisher to do the work. Layout, editing, proofreading and translation are all outside the service and have to be hired separately through the professionals directory. An author who needs a known per-copy cost before committing will have to go through the site's own tools rather than find a price list in the blog.
