H. Heenemann, formally Buch- und Offsetdruckerei H. Heenemann GmbH & Co. KG, is a book and offset printer in Berlin that sells through an online shop and prints books, manuals, brochures, calendars, cards and promotional items, including on demand. The homepage calls it an "Online Druckerei in Berlin mit über 100-jähriger Tradition" (online print shop in Berlin with a tradition of over 100 years) and says it has been active in digital printing since 1997. It prints everything on site in Berlin, and it serves self-publishers, companies that need manuals and marketing material, publishers, and private customers.

Print on demand at Heenemann

The print-on-demand page defines the service as a method rather than a print technology: a job starts with a very small run at most and is reprinted at short notice whenever demand comes in. Copies are printed only when a customer has actually ordered a book, brochure or manual, which, the page says, saves the cost of storing a large run, avoids tying up capital and leaves no waste ("es entsteht keine Makulatur"). Heenemann promises immediate printing after an order, and the content of a book or manual can be updated between print runs, so regularly revised titles stay current.

Two offers are named. For books, the customer chooses hardcover or softcover, portrait or landscape format, and decides the page count and paper type; the page says Heenemann prints the book only when the customer needs it. For companies, it prints manuals and handbooks on demand, with a choice of bindings, papers and formats, and it notes that many firms use this to update product manuals regularly without overproducing. Other products are available as print on demand on request, and the page invites customers to have a personal quote calculated ("lassen Sie sich einfach ein persönliches Angebot kalkulieren").

The homepage adds that small runs from 10 copies can be printed economically thanks to print on demand or digital printing, while larger runs go to offset printing with volume discounts. Its "MarketingServicesOneProduct" page describes the production of personalized items from a quantity of one through web-based shop solutions, and states that Heenemann also produces as a contract manufacturer on its digital presses for various websites. There is no named marketplace or storefront integration: orders go through the Heenemann online shop, a quote request or a custom shop solution.

Equipment and production

The homepage describes full pre-press and post-press, with sheet-fed offset and digital printing machines "von 2 bis 8 Farben" (from 2 to 8 colors), all run on site in Berlin, plus finishing such as film lamination. The shop lists production speeds of Economy, Standard and Express, each with a data deadline of 13:00, and gives a delivery time after completion of 1-3 working days depending on the shipping method, with courier delivery within Berlin on the same working day. The print-on-demand page also offers free collection from the company's premises in Berlin, and the product pages name DHL as the shipping partner.

Books and brochures

The closest shop product to a print-on-demand book is the softcover brochure, sold "ab 1 Exemplar" (from 1 copy) and listed on the homepage at 0,49 € including 19 percent VAT plus shipping. The product page offers adhesive binding for 40 to 400 pages and strongly recommends cellophane lamination when the cover is on coated paper. Inner pages come in a long list of stocks, from 90g/m² and 100g/m² uncoated white offset paper through matte and gloss art paper to Metapaper Extrasmooth and Extrarough, and covers go up to 350g/m². The configurator shows DIN A4 and DIN A5 portrait formats, full color or black printing, gloss, matte or soft touch cellophane lamination, and optional individual packing in a foil bag. The homepage separately advertises brochures from 0,15 € per copy, with adhesive binding, saddle stitching or wire-o, in softcover or hardcover.

Calendars

The wire-o picture calendar is also sold from a single copy, at 1,37 € for the 2027 edition on the homepage. The product page offers formats from DIN A5 up to DIN A2 and Maxi B2, plus panorama, square and a freely chosen custom size, 14 sheets with the last one turned outward, one-sided or two-sided four-color printing, and wire-o binding in black, silver or white. Each calendar has a cover page, the monthly sheets and a back of 350g/m² chromo board coated on both sides. Downloadable templates are provided (in English), and the page puts production at "bereits ab 2 bis 5 Werktagen" (from as little as 2 to 5 working days) depending on the run. Desk calendars and annual planners are in the range too.

Cards and fan claps

Folded cards and invitations start at 0,04 € on the homepage, with the product page advertising "Klappkarten schon ab 10 Stück" (folded cards from 10 pieces), shipping by DHL and "Gedruckt in Deutschland" (printed in Germany). The configurator shows DIN A5, DIN A6 and DIN long formats, one- or two-sided printing, card stocks from 250g/m² to 350g/m², and gloss or matte cellophane lamination.

Fan claps (Klatschpappen) are a signature product. They start at 0,25 € with a minimum order of 10 pieces, measure 450x320 mm, are printed on both sides in four colors on 350 g/m² chromo board or 300 g/m² matte or gloss art paper, and can be laminated with matte or gloss film. The page asks for a 3mm bleed and says the finished clap has eight score lines. Files can be uploaded directly, adjusted in an online editor, or sent via Dropbox or WeTransfer. For rush jobs, a "Klatschpappen Expressdruck" lets customers "schon am gleichen Tag in den Händen halten" (hold them in their hands the same day), and the shop menu lists same-day express printing as a category.

The wider shop covers business cards, flyers and folded flyers (from 25 pieces, in 80g/m² to 350g/m² papers), posters, postcards, stickers, letterheads, presentation folders, door hangers, tickets and pin buttons.

File checks, proofs and support

Every product page offers a free basic data check or a "Profi-Datencheck" for 20,00 €, and warns that faulty files that have to be resent or adjusted incur a flat fee of 25,00 €. A color-binding proof on the production paper costs an extra 49 EUR. Files can be uploaded while configuring or, for registered users, after ordering through "Mein Konto". The print-on-demand page highlights proofing and data checking as low-cost extra services.

Support is split into two phone lines, both staffed 10:00-16:30: one for general questions and quote requests, and one for shop questions. The shop carries the Trusted Shops badge.

Who it suits

Heenemann suits self-publishers and companies in Germany who want a traditional book printer that will print books and manuals in small numbers and reprint on demand, with the option to move to offset for larger runs. Clear per-copy starting prices, a detailed configurator and same-day courier or collection in Berlin make it practical for local customers. The white-label production for other websites may interest sellers who want a printer behind their own shop.

It suits sellers less well if they want a marketplace, royalty model or ready-made storefront integration, since the pages describe a print shop with quotes and custom shop solutions rather than a publishing platform. Book prices beyond the softcover brochure come by quote rather than from a public price list.
