Contrado is a print-on-demand manufacturer that makes clothing, homeware, accessories and wall art by hand in its own UK facility and ships them to its sellers' customers worldwide. The company behind it, Contrado Imaging Ltd, gives an address in Park Royal, London, and its dropshipping page says it has been "Manufacturing premium goods since 2002." Sellers reach it through a free Shopify app, a WooCommerce plugin or an API, and every order can go out under the seller's own brand. Its point of difference is manufacturing depth: fabric is printed, then cut and sewn in-house, so a seller can offer all-over-print garments and textiles rather than prints on stock blanks.

What a seller gets

One facility, no subcontractors. The dropshipping page lists "Everything made by us in one facility, no subcontractors" and "Every product is handmade on-demand, no mass-production." The API page says items are "Manufactured at Contrado's UK facilities for consistent premium quality and reliable turnaround." The UK print-on-demand page puts it simply: "No factories to communicate with, no separate printing and production. Just print on demand products, UK based, in one place."

The catalog. The Shopify dropshipping page counts "470+ premium custom products," the API page says "Design 500+ Products," and the UK print-on-demand page is titled "450+ Print on Demand Clothing, Art & Merch." The range covers "clothing to homeware, leather bags, dining & kitchenware, wall art, accessories, stationery, and so much more." The profit calculator's product list shows how varied it is: wallpaper, wooden pendants and earrings, leather tote bags and purses, luxury pajamas, reversible bomber jackets, washable rugs, footstools, photo albums and photo books, canvas prints, flyers, thermal bottles and keyrings.

Cut and sew. Contrado calls itself a cut and sew manufacturer. It prints a design onto fabric first, then cuts and sews it "using our exclusively designed patterns," which gives a "full-color edge-to-edge print." The all-over-print t-shirt is an example: sizes XS to 7XL, a choice of five neck rib colors, and three fabrics (Lifestyle Recycled Poly Jersey, Bounce Cotton Jersey and Supima Cotton Candy Jersey). The same process covers hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets and leggings, and, the company notes, curtains, rugs and teddy bears.

Print methods. The fabric menu names Reactive Printing, Pigment Printing and Sublimation Printing. The t-shirt page's FAQ says the fabrics "are all printed using completely water-based inks. This means no chemicals or solvents are used," and a heat fixing step sets the colors instead of steaming. Artwork is printed at 200dpi, and the design tool shows a traffic-light quality marker for each upload.

How dropshipping works

A seller installs the Contrado app on Shopify, adds products and designs them in the web interface, and sets a retail price. When a customer buys, Contrado makes the item and ships it. The page's list of features includes "Syncing store, adding products & orders all automated," "Sell in any global currency, set prices in your local currency," an "Efficient mockup generator" and "Private & white labeled products." The UK page adds that the Product Mockup Generator can put a design onto "100s of products in one go."

Speed. The dropshipping page says: "We make your orders in 1-3 days on average," and "Your customers get worldwide tracked delivery in 1-4 days on average." It also states that "Most orders are ready to ship worldwide within 48 hours, with customs duties to most countries paid," and lists "Tracked worldwide delivery with Express options." For bulk orders, the t-shirt page gives "fast turnaround (2-5 days)."

Branding. A seller can add a logo and tagline to the product label and the dispatch note, write a custom thank-you message and customize the fabric care label, "That way, your customer gets a package entirely branded by you." Products carry no Contrado label; many clothing items can take a custom label instead, and the label can be left off "with the click of a button." Labels are printed on satin fabric, and the FAQ says other label fabrics are not offered for now.

Support. The page promises "24/7 support, quality control, returns, & out of stock" handling. The UK page adds that Contrado can deal with customer service inquiries for the seller, or ship to the seller for onward posting if the seller prefers to stay the point of contact.

Integrations and API

The API page shows the state of each connection. Shopify is marked Live. WooCommerce is Live through "our official WooCommerce plugin." Etsy is marked "In development" and "Coming soon." A custom integrations API with developer docs lets a business "Develop bespoke and headless commerce workflows" for marketplaces, apps or enterprise systems. Once connected, the page says, "your system automatically sends order data, artwork files and shipping details through the API without manual intervention," and the API supports global shipping and single-unit or high-volume orders.

Pricing

The dropshipping service is free: the page promises no subscription and no fees or surprise costs, and new sign-ups get a free custom t-shirt. The profit calculator promises "20-40% off the base price, based on product and quantity," and says the seller makes "a minimum profit of 20%, or more when you mark up your price." The site shows base prices only inside the calculator and the account, not as a public list. Beyond dropshipping, the t-shirt page lists Bulk Orders with volume discounts and free sampling, Wholesale for repeat orders to a business's headquarters or outlets, and student discounts. The cut and sew page says mixing designs, sizes and products can "qualify for up to a 40% price reduction in bulk ordering discounts." There is no minimum order on any of these routes.

Sustainability claims

The company describes its model as low waste: products are made only when ordered, the dropshipping page lists "Local and sustainably sourced materials" and a "Low-waste production model; reduced carbon footprint," and the recycled poly jersey is one of the t-shirt fabrics. These are Contrado's own statements; it names no certification on these pages.

Who Contrado suits

Contrado suits a Shopify or WooCommerce seller building a fashion or homeware brand who wants products that look made, not merely printed: all-over-print garments, cut and sew clothing, leather goods, rugs and textiles, all from one UK workshop under the seller's own labels. Designers testing a small collection benefit from no minimums and the option to move to wholesale pricing later, and developers can use the API for headless setups.

It suits less well an Etsy-first seller, since that integration is still in development, and a seller who wants to compare public base prices before signing up.
