NeatoShop is a t-shirt marketplace for independent artists: artists supply the designs, NeatoShop prints them on shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, kids and baby wear and sells them to shoppers on its own site. The homepage describes it as "a marketplace for independent artists (who'd love your support!)" and says "everything is proudly printed in the United States." Its stated specialty is fit rather than product breadth: big and tall, curvy and women's plus sizes that many apparel stores skip. For an artist, it is a place to have designs sold and printed without running a store; for a shopper, it is a large catalog of graphic tees in sizes that are hard to find elsewhere.
The catalog in numbers
The headline figure on the homepage is "100,000 designs from 1,300 indie artists in your fit." Every design is offered across a range of garments, which the site lists as "unisex T-shirts, super soft ringspun premium shirts, ladies slim fit shirts, to kids and baby tees," and adds that heavyweight shirts are available too. Hoodies, sweatshirts and messenger bags appear alongside the shirts in the company's pricing announcement, and a recent addition is a baby snapsuit with hood and ears, "Available in charcoal, deep royal, navy, red, and white for sizes 6 to 24 months."
The designs are organized by theme. The category list runs from anime and manga, animals and books through card and board games, comics, fantasy, horror, movies, music, programming, science, sci-fi, space, sports and TV shows, with seasonal collections for Christmas (including ugly Christmas sweater designs), Halloween, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day and Cinco de Mayo. Pocket designs, puns and political shirts have their own sections too. The homepage rows of featured, funny, science, fantasy and sci-fi tees give a sense of the tone: humor, fandom and geek culture make up much of it. Titles shown on the homepage include "Cute Wizard Frog," "Space Cats," "Women in STEM Periodic Table," "Roll for Fire," "Wizard Cat Potion" and "EMOTIONAL SUPPORT SCIENTIST," each listed at the same shirt price, so an artist's design competes on the idea and the artwork rather than on price. The rows are grouped as new, hot and featured, which is how a design gets extra visibility beyond its category page.
Sizing is the specialty
The size range is what sets NeatoShop apart. Under the heading "Our Specialties: Big&Tall, Curvy and Women's Plus Sized Tees," the company writes: "We specialize in those darn hard-to-find sizes, because we know that one size does not fit all." Beyond the regular S to 2XL range, it carries LT, XLT, 2XLT, 3XL, 3XLT, 4XL, 4XLT, 5XL, 6XL, 7XL and 10XL, plus ladies curvy Size 1 (14/16), Size 2 (18/20), Size 3 (22/24) and Size 4 (26/28). A dedicated banner reads "Big & Tall Sizes Up to 10XL," and the site runs separate big and tall collections for anime, fantasy, funny, graphic tees, Halloween, horror, sci-fi, video games and several holidays.
For an artist, that matters in a practical way: a design listed on NeatoShop can be bought by customers in tall and very large sizes without the artist doing anything extra. Size charts are linked from the help menu.
Print quality
NeatoShop leans on print quality as its main argument. Under a heading that answers "One word: Quality," it says its artists called the print "Hi-Def" because the shirts have "sharp details" and strong colors. The site links to a side-by-side comparison, artist reviews and customer reviews, and quotes one reviewer, Ninjaink, praising "Gold-standard quality prints." A customer photo gallery shows the shirts being worn. The homepage does not name the print method.
Prices shoppers pay
The homepage lists retail prices for every featured design. Shirts show "Reg. $24.95," and during a sitewide sale they were marked "On Sale $19.95 (Save 20%)" with the note "Sale ends in 2 days." The sale banner reads "Get up to 20% off all tees" and "No coupons required." The company also announced lower prices: "We're excited to announce that we've lowered our prices on all T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts and messenger bags!" A loyalty scheme, NeatoBucks, pays "10%" back on purchases, which shoppers can redeem "for an instant discount, or even a free shirt!"
These are the prices a customer pays. The homepage says nothing about what an artist earns on each sale or how artists join.
Shipping and domestic printing
Printing in the US is presented as a benefit for American buyers: "since everything is proudly printed in the United States, there's no tariff or additional fees for all orders within the USA. Thank you for supporting local!" The help menu links to free shipping information, an order-status page and a "Money-Back Guarantee," so shoppers have order tracking and a guarantee to fall back on, with the details on those help pages.
Custom and special orders
NeatoShop also prints to order outside the marketplace. Under "Custom Orders & Personalizations" it says: "Yes! We take special orders and can print your own artwork on shirts, hoodies, and more." It invites shoppers to "Contact us to special order a T-shirt in your size or for a custom/personalized order," and links to its Custom Printing Service. That is useful for someone who needs a single design in an unusual size, or a small personalized run.
Novelty items
Alongside the apparel, NeatoShop sells a rotating range of novelty goods, which it describes plainly: "Novelty items are back! There's limited stock, so grab these fun (and functional) novelty items while they last." These are stocked goods rather than print-on-demand products. Examples with their listed prices include a Frida Kahlo and Monkey enamel pin set at $14.95, a heart coin purse at $7.99, RBG Dissent socks at $9.49, a bear plate at $34.99 and a mini bath soap at $3.95.
Who it suits
NeatoShop fits independent artists who draw humor, fandom, science and geek designs and want them sold on a marketplace that prints in the US and offers every design in big and tall, curvy and plus sizes. It also suits shoppers who have struggled to find graphic tees above 3XL. It fits less well for a seller who wants a printer behind their own online store, or who wants products beyond apparel: NeatoShop presents itself as a marketplace that sells through its own storefront.
