TeeChip is a print-on-demand platform where creators sell their designs on shirts, mugs, face masks, stickers, posters, phone cases and home decor, while the company takes care of production, payment and delivery. Its FAQ describes the business behind it in one paragraph: "Chip is an online platform that handles the logistical side of eCommerce and empowers sellers to focus on creating and selling unique products. We only work with reliable suppliers in the US & Asia. Product artwork is created by talented artists from all around the world." The company lists its address as 39899 Balentine Drive Suite 200, Newark, CA 94560. It suits designers and campaign sellers who want to sell to a global audience without handling printing or customer service.
How the model works
TeeChip calls itself "a user-generated content platform": the designs come from sellers, and TeeChip sells them to shoppers, routes each order to a supplier and handles the customer side. The footer's Company section lists "Sell on Chip," a "Chip Seller Blog," "Popular Storefronts" and a "Tags directory," so sellers run storefronts on the platform, and shoppers can find them through the storefront list or by tag. The FAQ also refers to sellers' listings as campaigns, with a form to "Report a campaign for policy violations."
Production is outsourced rather than in-house. The About Us text says TeeChip works "only" with suppliers in the US and Asia, and the FAQ explains that the platform "handles the logistical side of eCommerce." For a seller, that means TeeChip handles payment processing, order tracking, cancellations, address changes, refunds and exchanges, and the seller's job is design and promotion.
Products
The homepage title sums up the range as "Custom prints store | T-shirts, mugs, face masks, posters," and the featured categories are Shirts, Face Masks, Stickers, Home Decor, Posters and Phone cases. Themed gift collections run alongside them, such as "Plant Lover's Gifts" ("Unique gifts for plant lovers!"), "Fitness Gifts" ("Get ready to sweat!") and "Cool Space Designs" ("Gifts that are out of this world!"). The FAQ points to a sizing guide "which includes all of the sizing information for different brands and products," so sizes are given per brand and product.
Shipping and order handling
The FAQ gives one timeline for all orders: "Orders typically ship within 5-20 business days. Shipping times vary based on the product and destination." Shoppers can see an estimate for their own order through the Track Your Order lookup, using their order number and email. On cost, the FAQ says "Shipping costs will vary depending on the shipping destination and the number of items that you purchase."
Several rules follow from the print-on-demand model. The tracking page says "we generally begin processing an order as soon as it is placed," so items cannot be added or removed afterwards. Address changes and cancellations are possible only "for a short period of time after your order is placed," which the FAQ attributes to "the nature of some of our products." Tracking numbers "can take 1-2 days to appear in the shipping carrier's system." And for late parcels: "If your order has not arrived after 30 business days, please contact customer service."
The self-service tools cover most of what a buyer asks a seller about. The order number sits at the top of the confirmation email, and a shopper who cannot find it can recover it with a form that takes their full name and email. If a tracking number still does not work after a few days, the FAQ says to contact the shipping carrier, noting that "Occasionally, the shipping carrier can lose an order." Anyone who has trouble placing an order is sent to Customer Service, which says it will "work on resolving the issue as quickly as possible." These questions go to TeeChip's own customer service.
Returns and guarantee
The FAQ says: "We stand behind our quality and offer a 100% quality guarantee on any items purchased from our store," and directs customers to a Returns & Exchanges policy for how to set up a return. The contact page adds that a claim for a refund or exchange needs the order number and the email address used to order.
Payment
TeeChip lists the payment methods it accepts. Credit cards: Visa, American Express, Mastercard and Discover. Debit cards with the Mastercard or Visa logo, with prepaid debit cards to be registered first. PayPal. Sofort, for customers in Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland and the UK, and GiroPay for customers in Germany, both "only available to customers shipping to the eurozone." Cards are charged immediately, CVV verification is required, each transaction is verified with the card company, and suspicious or declined orders may be followed up to confirm the buyer's identity or canceled with notice, and the site encrypts payment data with SSL "at 128-bit strength."
A global storefront
The language menu offers English for the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada, "Español de España," "Español de México," Deutsch, Français, Italiano, "Portugues de Brasil," Tiếng Việt, Turkish, Hindi, Bengali and Japanese. Prices can be shown in USD, MXN, AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP, BRL, VND, TRY, INR, JPY and BDT. For a seller, that means shoppers can browse a storefront in their own language and currency.
Content policy
As a platform for user-generated designs, TeeChip says it takes "infringing content concerns seriously" and provides an intellectual property complaint form for reporting campaigns, with a DMCA page in the footer. Anyone can use the form to file a formal complaint about a campaign.
Support
The contact page says: "Our customer service team works Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM Eastern Time. We respond to inquiries within 24 hours." Customers can write to support@teechip.com, submit a support request online, or write to the Newark address. The footer also links to a TeeChip Reviews page and to Shipping & Return Policies, Terms and Conditions and a Privacy Policy.
Who it suits
TeeChip fits designers and campaign sellers who want to put artwork on shirts, mugs, stickers, posters, phone cases and face masks and sell it internationally, with the platform handling payment in many currencies, supplier routing, tracking and returns. It fits less well for sellers who need fast delivery, given the 5-20 business day shipping window, or who want to control production themselves.
